Birthday Party

We celebrated the big boys turning 7 at Boondocks this year.
It was so much fun !   Here are some pictures of the outdoor activities.   Tons to do inside too, but alas....no pictures.

Shaved Ice !

Aunt Jo recently became a partner in a little shaved ice business with a couple of her friends.
Hokulia shaved ice.
We were told not to call them sno cones and it certainly didn't take us long to figure out why.
It was a 101 degree day when lots of friends came over to play.   What a great excuse to go enjoy these ginormous treats.

 Summer bucket list : Plane ride (check) Boat ride (check) and not pictured, bubble gum blowing contest (check) and trying to learn how to blow bubbles (check...even though unsuccessful)

Spencer rocks

Spencer fell off of his bike and along with the road rash got a rock lodged in his knee.
He laid on my bed while I used tweezers, a needle, my fingers and pure force trying to remove the rock, all the while holding it together as best as he could through screams of pain.
I finally gave up and took him to the doctor.
She numbed the area with a cream (would have been handy to have at the house)  and took him to her "operating" room :)    She tried with several tools but it was not budging.   She ended up using a razor blade to cut on either side of it.  With me pushing in and up on the sides she tugged and tugged at it and it finally popped out.   It was a good size rock.   I have no idea how it lodged itself so snuggly in there without leaving a bigger opening.
She couldn't stitch it up because there was still debris in it even after thoroughly washing it out.    He was bandaged given a certificate for a free ice cream cone and we were off.
Spencer watched most of the operation with a detached interest...didn't shed a tear.
Nice job little man.
 

Post surgery hole.   I love that his knees are the biggest part of his leg...my skinny boy.
